How to get to Beer Can Island Longboat Key?
Beer Can Island is located at the tip of Longboat Key. You do not need a boat to access this area. This area is just south of Coquina Beach. Heading south on 789 you will cross over the bridge to Longboat Key. Take the first right onto N Shore Rd and drive all the way down to the end. As always parking is super limited so I would suggest visiting on a weekday to avoid the crowds and hopefully you’ll get a spot. It’s important to note that there are technically two Beer Can Islands in the area. The other one is located near Tampa Bay on Pine Key.
Can you get to Beer Can Island without a boat?
Yes! The easiest way is to put this address into your maps: N Shore Rd, Longboat Key, FL 34228. Once you find parking walk to the beach and walk to the right alllllll the way down (it’s about a 20-30 minute walk from parking to the tip of Longboat Key). I’ve seen other people suggest parking at Coquina Beach, but that would be a very very long walk. Make sure to pack lots of sunscreen, water, your camera and lunch. Once you experience this beach you’re not going to want to leave!
Driftwood Beaches in Florida
Once again, I discovered this beach by searching on google or Instagram. The beautiful driftwood is what drew me in, especially since there aren’t a ton of beaches in Florida with driftwood.
Is there parking on Beer Can Island?
Yes there is parking, but it’s super limited and it’s all on the side of the street. I would estimate that there are about 25 spots. If you’re planning to visit on the weekend arrive super early! There are no bathrooms or showers that I can recall.
