Best Spring in Florida
Rock Springs in Kelly Park is one of most beautiful spots I have ever visited in Florida! This beach is located about 30 minutes north of Orlando and it is a hidden gem. Crystal clear tropical-looking water in the middle of the woods! We tried to visit Rock Springs for my birthday, but apparently you need to arrive super early in order to get in. We got to Kelly Park around 11:30am on a Friday, but the gates were closed. A police officer was blocking the entrance and will not let you in. We ended up booking two nights at the Kelly Park Campground in April. This was the perfect idea because we didn’t have to worry about getting a spot and the campground is within walking distance to the springs.
How much does it cost to get in Rock Springs?
The Park Admission Fee: $3 per vehicle for 1-2 people; $5 per vehicle for 3-8 people; and $1 for additional person/walk-ins/motorcycles/bikes.
Tubing At Rock Springs
The spring is perfect for tubing. It pumps out around 26,000 gallons per minute. There is a height limit on your float (see photo below). Some parts of the lazy river at Rock Springs are shallow so you’ll want a tube that won’t make you bump into the rocks below. I would suggest a circle tube for tubing at Rock Springs Kelly Park. It’s about a 30 minute float from start to finish. You can rent tubes from RONs Tube Rentals for $7 per tube for the entire day.
What time does Kelly Park fill up?
According to the parks website: each morning, 280 vehicles will be allowed to enter. If the park hits capacity you can get a voucher in the morning from the police officer that is at the entrance. This can be used for the 1 p.m. re-open time. Only one voucher will be given per car, on a first-come, first-served basis and only 50 vouchers are given out.
Kelly Park Hours
In summer, the park is open from 8.00am – 8.00pm in the evening.
In winter, the park is open from 8.00am – 6.00pm in the evening.
Are there alligators at Kelly Park?
Rock Springs is located in Apopka, Florida in the middle of the woods, so yes there are definitely alligators. We did not see any alligators during our trip at Rock Springs, but we did end up seeing a bear in the middle of the night at Kelly Park Campground. Make sure to always be aware of your surroundings as you are in their habitat.
Rock Springs Kelly Park Camping
The campground at Kelly Park has 26 sites and 2 group sites. Each site has electrical hookups and can accommodate tents or RVs. Each site has a picnic table along with a fire ring and grill. When I was researching the park before our trip, the website didn’t say anything about having showers, but they definitely do! There’s a playground nearby as well. The following pictures are from our trip in April. We can’t wait to go back to Rock Springs in Kelly Park!
Camping in Kelly Park is very affordable. It costs $18 for Orange County Residents or $23 for visitors for a single camp site. A family site will cost $36 for Orange County Residents or $46 for visitors.
If you’re camping during rainy season we definitely recommend buying a waterproof tent (we love this one).
