Is Fort Pierce Worth a Visit?
Yes! Fort Pierce is a southeastern town located on the Treasure Coast. Its nickname is The Sunrise City. The downtown area is quaint and historical. It feels like a southern fishing town that has held onto its old Florida charm.
I am obsessed with towns that have character, local coffee shops, good food, and beautiful beaches. I have been wanting to visit Old Florida Coffee Company in the downtown area for a while. My family and I went up a few weeks ago, and I fell in LOVE. I was shocked at how adorable Fort Pierce is. It has gotten a bad rap for its crime rate, but after some research, it is now ranked one of the 100 safest cities in Florida.
I was also surprised by how BUSY it was! It felt like a holiday weekend. The beaches were packed, and we tried to get into the state park, however, it was filled. Our main reason for visiting the area was to fish at the Stan Blum Boat Ramp, but it was crowded with no parking.
We spent two separate days up in Fort Pierce. On the first day, we went on a weekend. Since everywhere was packed, we ended up getting coffee and crepes at the Old Florida Coffee Co., visited the Aquarium, and Jaycee Park, and ended our day with pizza at Piehole Wood Pizza. On our second trip, we checked out Jetty Park and spent most of our day on the most beautiful beach, Pay Beach in the State Park.
